Resistors combinations.

Combination of resistors Resistors can be connected Serially or in parallel Combinations, to get a desired value.  Serial combination of resistors In a serial connection the resultant resistance will be calculated by adding the resistance values of all  the resistors in the combination.  R = r1+r2+r3+r4..... Suppose the r1 is 50 and r2 is 100 then resultant resistance of resistors will be 50+100= 150. Resistors in serial combination                                       Image credit goes to wikiMedia                                          Parallel combination of resistors In a parallel combination, the resultant value of resistance can be calculated by an equation 1/R = 1/r1 +1/r2+1/r3+1/r4............ If two 100 ohm resistors conned in parallel, what will be the combined resistance in the circuit?  Let us find it, here r1=100 ans r2= 100 then 1/R=1/100+1/100=2/100 . ie 1/R=2/100 so R=100/2 =50 Ohms                                Resistors in parallel combination

Introduction

To become a successful electronic technician, you should know about the components, and there working principles. I will teach you all about  repairing of laptops, desk top computers, mobile phones, and industrial equipments.

 Resistors

Resistors are electrical component used to reduce the flow of electric current in a circuit.
Resistors are very common in electronic circuits
The unit of resistance is ohm

Resistors can be classified into fixed resistors and variable resistors, resistence value of fixed resistors cannot be changed but the value of a variable resistor can be set to a desired value by moving it's rotary or sliding adjustments.

FIXED RESISTORS

Fixed resistors are  two types, axial leaded type and smd (surface mount divice) type

Axial type

when we talk about the materials used to make resistors, generaly  three types of resistors, carbon resistors, metalic film resistors and wire wound resistors.

Carbon resistors

carbon resistors are most common and cheapest resistors which are low wattages.Combination of carbon and clay used  to make this resistor

metal film resistors

Metal film resistors

this resistors are made by coating metametallic film on a ceramic substrate

wire wound resistors

wire wound resistors

these resistors are made by wounding some special metalic wires, such as nickel chromium, copper alloys, iron chromium aluminium alloys etc.The metals used is always an alloys because of it's low conduction of electricity.

variable resistors,

variable resistors,

variable resistors also called adjustable resistors, you can adjust it to a desired level manualy, how ever in some cases for example in the case of photo resistor ( LDR) the intensity of light is used to vary the value of resistor ,and in the case of thermistor ,temperature in and around it vary the value.
